Now we know why the Maytag repairman is so lonely.

Over the years we have all heard about the lonely Maytag repairman. And if he has many customers like Jane Thompson, this may be the reason why. It seems Mrs. Thompson from Sand Springs, Oklahoma, has until recently been using a Maytag washer and dryer which she received in 1957. That’s right, 1957.
It seems she was having a problem with her dryer…the door latch would not stay closed. When her daughter called to have it repaired, Maytag could hardly believe their ears. A 52 year old working washer and dryer…did I mention it was pink? They offered her a replacement pair so they could put her set in the Maytag Museum in Michigan. It took some persuading but she finally agreed to the exchange, under the condition that if it doesn’t work as well, they will return her original pair to her.

Now, we doubt the new set will last 52 years, but the Maytag brand is built on dependability, so we feel confident she will enjoy her new Centennial Washer and Dryer.
